How do I apply for a Medicare Advantage or Supplement Plan?

Can I apply for Medicare in person?
Yes you can, but you’ll need to go to a local Social Security office to apply in person. If you’d like to apply for an Advantage or Supplement Plan in person, simply contact our office and request an appointment. Please note, you’ll need to apply for Original Medicare before you can enroll in an Advantage or Supplement Plan.

When should I apply for Medicare?
You have a 7-month window to apply for Original Medicare: during the 3 months prior to your 65th birthday month, the month of your birthday, and the 3 months after your 65th birthday.
What if I missed my Initial Enrollment Period?
You missed your 7-month window for enrolling in Medicare, your next opportunity to enroll in Part A and Part B will be during the General Enrollment Period, January 1-March 31. Coverage will then become effective on the first of the month following your enrollment date. For instance, if you enroll on February 10, your coverage will go into effect on March 1st.
Are there penalties for enrolling late?
Yes! If you do not enroll in Part B coverage during your Initial Enrollment Period, you could be subject to premium penalties for as long as you have Medicare coverage.
When do I get my Medicare card?
You’ll typically receive your Medicare card approximately 3 weeks after you apply.
